Walid Toufic (Arabic: وليد توفيق‎; also spelled Walid Tawfik; born April 8, 1954), is a Lebanese singer who constantly made his big break in Egypt, and he is also known for performing in concerts and appearing in music videos.

Biography

Walid Toufic, born Walid Toutounji, grew up with his family in Tripoli, Lebanon, but he later relocated to western Beirut and lived in the residential area of Ibn Rashd Street. His first Oud Tutor was the blind artist Mr. Amin Azar. During this period, young Walid was working really hard to raise enough money for his music lessons.

In 1973, Walid participated in the famous Lebanese talent show, Studio El Fan. His success in this show was his first step towards stardom. Media described his appearance: "The beginner who performed like a star!" Ouyoun Bahia was his luck song.

His acting career started afterwards where he starred in 12 different successful movies with Egyptians and Arab famous stars like Farid El-Atrache, Hoda Sultan, Maryam Fakhreddin, Madiha Yusri, Samis Ghanem, Layla Alawi, Saiid Saleh, Raghda, Athar El-Hakim, Dureid Lahham, among others.

Walid had the opportunity to preset songs of the famous composer Balligh Hamdi, which resulted into a deep friendship between them. Songs like Ehna El-Tayibin and Sinin Ahbab were a big success. Meeting the Great Mohammad Abdel Wahab was a big step forward for Walid Toufic. In his repertoire more than 600 songs written and composed by most famous names in the Arab world.

Walid Toufic stood on biggest stages and conducted most famous concerts like CarthageTunisia, where people donated blood to attend, Jarash - Jordan, AgadirMorocco, Love and Peace - Syria, Layali Adwa El-Madina - Egypt, and many more.

Walid Toufic continues to sing about love and joy, holding Lebanon in his heart and songs. His popularity in the Arab world has won him the title, The Arab Star.

He is married to Georgina Rizk, former Miss Universe 1971.
